JenniferJennifer Teacher 2013

Hello!  I’m currently attending Lakehead University’s B.Ed. Primary/Junior Professional Year program here in Ontario, Canada.

Why do I blog?

Teaching to me means that I need to always challenge myself to keep learning and rethinking what I think I know. When I have the time, this blog provides me with space to muse, reflect, share, and grow.  I’m no longer teaching ESL, but may provide resources here and there as they come up!

I’ve read some of your posts. I’ve been looking for other ESL blogs that contain good information. I hope you continue to post, though you seem to have gone missing!

Btw, I teach IELTS in Singapore. I heard from some Koreans (there are many in Singapore) that IELTS is becoming more popular among Koreans. TOEFL is the dominant English test I believe, but have you seen an increased interest in IELTS?

Hello and thank you! Not missing, just super busy with teaching and mommyhood. Plan to make more time for blogging again soon. 🙂

You’re hearing correctly. IELTS is more popular in Korea because it’s seen as an easier test for Koreans to score well on as compared to the TOEFL iBT. What do you think of this sentiment?

There have been a lot of changes in Korea affecting which proficiency tests are sought after. Many of the top universities have now implemented their own tests, making it more difficult for educators to assist students in preparing. I’m seeing that anyone going overseas to work or study, or just to pad their resume, still go for the IELTS more often than the TOEFL.

      Hope you’re busy!
